My childhood dream was to work for the United Nations. I’ve been lucky to work in over 10 countries, producing (and sometimes filming) documentaries and campaigns for the United Nations.
One of 10 videos I produced for the United Nations over 6 weeks in 6 countries across West Africa, with a skeleton crew of 3.
I conducted interviews, directed, produced, and edited these pieces including this spot.
Kadija lost everything when Mali collapsed into Civil War in 2012. Despite losing her husband and her community, and being forced to flee her home, she has come back.
She now owns her own business and employs over 50 women. Her life is a testament to the powerful work being done by UN Women all over West Africa.
